Tadpole Catching

Acrylic on canvas board (2021)

This painting was created as a present for my partner for her birthday. I paint the children as characters of ourselves ( the bob- cap on the boy was crocheted by my partner Sue). Each year we go to a lake for the pleasure of tadpole catching, from which many a large and tiny frog populates the pond and garden.

I love to paint this style of image, as I can play with imagination and the sentiment of the scene and the elements therein.

Inspired by an image spotted in the window of a small gallery in the centre of Prague, this image was one of the first created as a keepsake for my partner.

I think she delighted in the movement and excitement of the composition, offering a sense of freedom and fun...and a touch of romance.

I am considering printing this image as a Limited Edition.

LORD AND LADY OF THE MANOR

A couple of fun images. The children on the seesaw is a depiction of my brother John and his partner Collette. It was originally to be titled 'The Telling Off!'

'Irmine'  was a practice image that turned out quite sweet.

And ... I bet the duck will make you go "aaah!".

Pear Blossom

Acrylic on canvas board   (2021)

Pear Blossom is inspired by the pear tree outside my studio window, as well as the House Sparrows waiting for the suet pieces each morning.

I find it difficult to paint water ripples, so I invented my own 'language'. I enjoyed the abstract of this and the way it plays on the eyes.

The 'SUNSHINE' paintings Below were an exploration of light and colour to create the atmosphere; worked in a looser, more impressionistic style.
